Twisted Minds pull off win vs. Omega; Stowm, TNC surprise ONIC PH

Twisted Minds PH and TNC Pro Team secures their first wins of the MPL Philippines Season 17 regular season as Week 2 kicks off at Victoria Sports Tower.

The Minds edged Smart Omega in a three-game series, while the Phoenixes delivered a stunning sweep over ONIC Philippines.

Caloy, Sionnn step up for TWIS

Twisted Minds struck first with a dominant 11-minute Game 1 victory. John Carlo “Caloy” Roma led the charge with one kill and 13 assists on Khaleed, setting up crucial initiations in the closing minutes. Lee Howard “Owl” Gonzales added five kills and four assists on Karrie.

Smart Omega’s Dean “Raizen” Sumagui (Fredrinn) and John “Perkz” Sumawan (Hilda) struggled, combining for 11 of the team’s 16 deaths while tallying just four assists.

The Barangay responded in Game 2, with Kenneth “Netskie” Barro leading the way on Freya with a 3/5/5 line, while Carl Edriel “Minguin” Gallantes chipped in with a kill and three assists on Kimmy.

Twisted Minds closed out the series in a tight Game 3, with rising star Miguel “Sionnn” Alcantara earning MVP honors after posting four kills on Valentina, including key takedowns on Omega’s core heroes.

Smart Omega, now 0-2, will next face TNC Pro Team in search of their first win, while Twisted Minds look to carry their momentum against Aurora Gaming.

TNC blast ONIC to secure first win

The Phoenix Army activated new arrival Dale “Stowm” Vidor to the midlane, replacing Lance “LanceCy” Cunanan. Meanwhile, the Sonics put back Nowee “Ryota” Macasa to their main five, replacing Jann Kirk “Kirk” Gutierrez.

ONIC Philippines found themselves on the receiving end of a dominant performance, conceding 16 kills in Game 1. Justin “Zaida” Palma starred on Harley with seven kills and seven assists.

The midlane duo of Joshua “Ch4knu” Mangilog and Stowm controlled the pace, as their Marcel–Yve combination disrupted ONIC’s dive-heavy composition and took over from the mid-game onward.

TNC carried their momentum into Game 2, closing out the series with a 13-minute rout. Benedict “Bennyqt” Gonzales led the way with a 7/1/3 performance on Cici, highlighted by a maniac late in the game, while Ch4knu added a 2/2/8 line on Baxia.

ONIC nearly mounted a comeback, with Clayton “Savero” Kuswanto sparking a strong base defense in the 11th minute with four consecutive kills. However, Ch4knu and Bennyqt shut the door, winning the decisive teamfight to seal the sweep.

ONIC will return on April 10 against AP.Bren, while TNC Pro Team will face Smart Omega on Saturday to close out their Week 2 campaign.
