Pokémon Unveils Massive, Yearlong ‘What’s Your Favorite?’ Campaign for 30th Anniversary

The Pokémon Company International today unveiled a massive yearlong campaign titled “What’s Your Favorite?”, celebrating 30 years of the iconic Pokémon brand by calling on fans around the world to share their favorite Pokémon.

The campaign officially kicked off during Super Bowl LX, where a new commercial introducing “What’s Your Favorite?” aired. The video is now available on the official Pokémon YouTube channel.

Celebrities Join in Super Bowl Spot

As seen in the Super Bowl commercial, The Pokémon Company International tapped fellow Pokémon fans from across sports, music, and entertainment to join the campaign. The lineup includes Lady Gaga, Trevor Noah, Charles Leclerc, Jisoo, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Lamine Yamal, and Young Miko. Each one championed their favorite Pokémon while highlighting the diversity of the global Pokémon community. It also enhances the franchise’s long-standing influence on pop culture.

Bringing Fans Together

“The ‘What’s Your Favorite?’ campaign embodies Pokémon’s overarching mission of bringing people together through a shared love of Pokémon,” said Kenji Okubo, president of The Pokémon Company International.

“Since the franchise debuted 30 years ago, Trainers have often asked each other, ‘What’s Your Favorite?’ — it’s a question that sparks passionate discussion and reminds fans that no matter who they are, there is a Pokémon for them,” Okubo added. “As we gear up for a year packed full of fan-focused celebrations, we thank Trainers around the world for being part of our diverse, global and multigenerational community.”

Fans Can Create Photos in Pokémon GO

Starting today, fans worldwide can join the anniversary festivities by sharing their favorite Pokémon. Fans can use a new camera feature in Pokémon GO, which also celebrates its 10th anniversary this year.

Trainers can select their favorite Pokémon to appear in photos and share their creations online using the hashtag #Pokemon30. This allows fans to see favorites from across the global community. More details about the snapshot feature are available at Pokemon.com/30.

Day Out and Night Out Events

As part of the yearlong campaign, The Pokémon Company International will roll out real-world fan experiences designed to bring Trainers together.

Throughout the year, Pokémon will host “Day Out” and “Night Out” events. Day Out experiences will focus on family-friendly activities and programming, while Night Out events will offer surprises aimed at longtime fans who grew up with the franchise. Additional details on both event types will be announced at a later date.
