Google PH Highlights AI Tools on Safer Internet Day 2026

Google Philippines is urging Filipinos to navigate the online world safely, showcasing AI-driven tools and practical tips during the 2026 Safer Internet Day celebration under the theme “sA Internet, Ingat!”.

The initiative focuses on digital literacy, scam prevention, and responsible online behavior across age groups.

AI Tools to Combat Misinformation

With AI-generated content increasingly circulating online, distinguishing real information from manipulated media is critical. Google encourages the use of the SIFT method—Stop, Investigate the source, Find better coverage, and Trace claims—to verify content before sharing.

Tools such as About this Image help users trace the origin of images, while SynthID embeds digital watermarks in AI-generated content, allowing people to identify deepfakes and manipulated media.

Real-Time Scam Detection

Scams via SMS and social media remain a growing threat. Google has made it easier for users to check suspicious messages instantly using Google Lens or Circle to Search.

This allows screenshots or selected text to be analyzed by AI in real time. It also flags potential fraud before any engagement occurs.

Strengthening Device Security

Android devices also benefit from new security features designed to protect users in case of loss or theft. The Theft Detection Lock automatically locks a device if motion patterns indicate a possible theft, while biometric identity checks add extra security for sensitive settings.

Failed Authentication Lock secures the device after multiple unsuccessful login attempts, ensuring personal data stays protected.

Tools for Families and Students

Google is also focusing on digital safety at home. Parents can guide children’s online activity with tools that manage screen time, app access, and content exposure. For students, features such as Gemini Guided Learning promote step-by-step problem-solving, helping them develop critical thinking skills rather than relying solely on AI-generated answers.

By integrating AI tools with practical education, Google aims to empower Filipinos to navigate the internet with confidence. From students to seniors, the initiative underscores the importance of vigilance, digital literacy, and safe online habits in today’s AI-driven environment.
