BYD Showcases Full EV Lineup, Sealion 7 and Atto 2 at MIAS 2026

BYD Cars Philippines is making its biggest push yet in the local EV space, headlining Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) 2026 with its largest exhibit to date and a preview of two upcoming electric vehicles.

The showcase signals BYD’s growing ambitions in the Philippines, combining a full lineup display, new model previews, and a nationwide electrification campaign that highlights the brand’s expanding ecosystem.

Full EV and hybrid lineup on display

At MIAS 2026, BYD is presenting its complete New Energy Vehicle (NEV) portfolio, covering both battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and hybrid options.

Among the models featured are:

  • BEVs: Seagull, Atto 3, Tang EV, eMAX 7
  • Hybrid (DM-i and DMO): Seal 5 DM-i, Sealion 5 DM-i, Sealion 6 DM-i, Tang DM-i, eMAX 9 DM-i, Shark 6 DMO

This broad lineup reflects BYD’s strategy of offering multiple electrified options across different price points and use cases, from compact city cars to larger SUVs and MPVs.

Sealion 7 and Atto 2 previewed ahead of launch

The highlight of the exhibit is the Philippine preview of two new models: the BYD Sealion 7 and BYD Atto 2 EV.

  • Sealion 7: A premium electric SUV with all-wheel drive, performance-focused engineering, and a tech-heavy interior aimed at the higher-end EV segment
  • Atto 2 EV: A compact urban crossover designed for everyday use, targeting families and first-time EV buyers

Reservations for both models opened during the event, with units expected to officially launch later this year.

Nationwide EV drive highlights charging infrastructure

Beyond product showcases, BYD used MIAS 2026 to highlight its broader electrification efforts through the “Drive Electric. Love Pinas.” campaign.

In partnership with ACMobility and the Department of Tourism, a convoy of electrified vehicles completed a cross-country journey from Northern Luzon to Mindanao.

Key highlights include a coverage of 102 cities nationwide. They also feature support from over 160 charging locations under the Philippine EV Spine network and participation of 79 BYD dealerships.

The initiative serves as a real-world demonstration of EV viability in the country, addressing concerns such as range anxiety and infrastructure readiness.

Guinness World Records and celebrity partnership

The nationwide drive also resulted in two Guinness World Records titles:

  • Most cities visited in a continuous journey by an EV
  • Most cities visited in a continuous journey by a plug-in hybrid vehicle

The records were achieved using the BYD eMAX 7 and Shark 6 DMO.

BYD also introduced Alden Richards as its newest brand ambassador, signaling a push to connect EV adoption with mainstream audiences in the Philippines.

Expanding EV ecosystem in the Philippines

A key part of BYD’s strategy lies beyond vehicles. The company is working with ACMobility to expand the Philippine EV Spine, a growing nationwide charging network aimed at making EV ownership more practical.

This integrated approach—combining vehicles, infrastructure, and support services—mirrors global EV trends, where ecosystem development plays a critical role in adoption.

MIAS-exclusive deals and availability

Visitors to MIAS 2026 can access exclusive offers, including discounts of up to ₱220,000 on select models. There are also financing deals through partner banks and exclusive BYD merchandise and accessories.

The BYD exhibit runs from April 9 to 12 at the World Trade Center Metro Manila.

Strengthening its position in a growing EV market

BYD’s presence at MIAS 2026 underscores its intent to lead the Philippines’ transition to electric mobility. With a wide product lineup, expanding charging infrastructure, and high-visibility campaigns, the brand is positioning itself as a key player in the country’s evolving automotive landscape.

As EV adoption continues to grow, efforts like nationwide drives and large-scale showcases could play a crucial role in turning interest into actual ownership.
