Maya is encouraging customers in the Philippines to use account-protection tools available through the Maya in-app Security Center, including trusted-phone enrollment and biometric approval for Send Money transactions. The company says the controls are intended to give customers clearer ways to manage account access and reach support when needed.
Controls in one place
Introduced late last year, the Maya in-app Security Center brings account-security tools and access to help together. Maya Group President and Maya Bank Co-Founder Shailesh Baidwan said the company’s customer-protection work includes continued investment in infrastructure, safeguards, monitoring and incident response.
“Protecting our customers’ money requires continuing investment in infrastructure, safeguards, monitoring and incident response. It also means giving customers clear ways to manage their account security and reach us when they need help,” Baidwan said. He added that the Security Center brings practical controls together in one place.

Customers with upgraded Maya accounts can enroll trusted phones through Security Center, which is accessible through Profile or Services. Maya also presents an enrollment prompt after login. After enrollment, customers can use Face ID or a fingerprint on their phone instead of an SMS one-time password to approve Send Money transactions. Maya says enrollment remains subject to its security checks.
Under Account Security, customers can view and remove trusted phones and review previous logins through Login History. The same section allows them to change their registered mobile number or password and update their email address.
Card and transfer management
The app’s Freeze My Cards function is available to Maya Black and Landers Cashback Everywhere credit cardholders, allowing them to freeze those credit cards directly in the app. Transfer Limits lets customers manage limits for InstaPay transfers from Maya Wallet to other banks and Insta-fill transfers from Maya Savings into Maya Wallet.
These customer-facing controls complement what Maya describes as broader safeguards, including AI-supported fraud monitoring. Maya Philippines and Maya Bank hold ISO 27001 certifications for information security management and ISO 27701 certifications for privacy information management. According to the company, the certifications have been held continuously since 2022 and 2023, respectively.
Scam awareness and partnerships
Maya also promotes scam awareness through Maya ScamPatrol, which provides guidance on recognizing fraud tactics and adopting safer digital habits. The company says the campaign helps customers identify suspicious messages and requests alongside its platform security measures.
Maya works with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center, the Department of Justice and the Philippine National Police. Its activities include support for CICC’s Scam Safe initiative, which focuses on public awareness of online scams and cyber fraud.
“The cooperation goes hand in hand with our responsibility to keep improving Maya’s safeguards and helping customers use financial services with confidence,” Baidwan said. The Maya in-app Security Center is available to customers through the Maya app, with access points listed under Profile or Services. Feature eligibility varies by account or card type, including upgraded accounts and the specified Maya credit cards.
