Nikon Steps up with a Mirror-less Full Frame Camera

Nikon finally steps into the full-frame mirrorless camera segment challenging Sony who has been the dominant player. Nikon after weeks of teasing finally unveiled the Nikon S6 and S7. The two cameras are in direct response to Sony’ A7III and A7RIII. This is an aggressive move for Nikon who has been a conservative company. The Z6 and Z7 are professional cameras coming up to the level of the rarely seen Nikon D850.

The NiokZ7, Slated to arrive on September 27th, has a 45.7-megapixel sensor, 493 focus points, and 64-25600 ISO, while the Z6 will be released in “late November” with a 24.5-megapixel sensor, 273 focus points, and 100-51200 ISO. The company is releasing a $250 FTZ adapter that offers “full compatibility” (meaning it’ll support autofocus and auto exposure where available) with over 90 lenses. Nikon is promising basic compatibility with approximately 360 existing F lenses for those that don’t mind handling focus and exposure. This opens up all the lenses in the line up their line up. Nikon professional will be happy that they will be able to still use the lenses they already invested in.
