2XKO Closed Beta Rolls Out Globally This September

Riot’s Tag-Team Fighter Preps for Its Biggest Test Yet

Mark your calendars, fighting game fans: Riot Games is finally letting the rest of the world jump into the brawl with 2XKO, its highly anticipated 2v2 tag-based fighter set in the League of Legends universe. Starting September 9, 2025, the global Closed Beta goes live on Windows PC, opening the gates to both veterans and first-time players looking for a fresh spin on competitive combat. 2XKO Closed Beta Rolls out.

If you’ve been part of Alpha Lab 1 or 2, consider this your fast pass—previous testers get automatic beta access. For everyone else, the sign-up window is wide open at 2xko.riotgames.com/beta. No region lock. No excuses.

And this isn’t just a demo that disappears after a few days. Riot says the game will stay online through launch, meaning your training sessions, victories, and rage-quits won’t be in vain.

Cross-Platform Progression: Switch Your Device, Keep Your Grind

Whether you prefer mouse-and-keyboard precision or console thumbstick brutality, 2XKO lets you progress seamlessly across platforms. PC access starts first, with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series SX coming soon after.

Expect cross-platform progression and inventory, so you can start your climb on PC and swap to console later without losing your favorite skins, titles, or bruised ego. It’s Riot’s way of saying: “Play where you want. We’ll keep your receipts.”

Vi Joins the Roster, Punches Included

To keep things spicy, Riot is adding Vi, the punch-first-ask-later enforcer from League of Legends and Arcane, to the 2XKO lineup. She’ll be playable at the Evo 2025 showfloor in Las Vegas from August 1–3, and she’s also joining the cast for the Closed Beta.

Expect knuckle sandwiches, chain combos, and the kind of aggression that makes your controller flinch. Adding Vi not only flexes Riot’s connection to its lore—it gives brawler mains a heavy-hitting option straight out of the gate.

Built for FGC Diehards and Fresh Fighters

2XKO isn’t trying to replace Street Fighter or Tekken—it’s carving its own lane. By combining tag mechanics, tight execution, and the familiar stylings of Runeterra, Riot’s newcomer is designed to appeal to fighting game veterans and newcomers alike.

There’s enough combo potential to excite lab monsters, and enough assist play to create chaos in every match. And thanks to Riot’s infrastructure and community-building chops, 2XKO might be the best candidate yet to bring FGC culture to a broader player base.

How to Join and What’s Coming Next

Want in? Head to 2xko.riotgames.com/beta and sign up for beta access. Riot’s approach is inclusive but structured—if your PC passes the vibe check (and the minimum requirements), you’re in line for the Closed Beta.

Console players will have to wait a bit longer, but with cross-play and progression confirmed, the switch will be smoother than Vi’s uppercut. Riot hasn’t locked down the full launch date yet, but with the game staying online after September 9, early adopters can start building their grind from day one.
