Marvel Games and NetEase Games have unveiled the full details of Marvel Rivals<\/a> Season 9.5: The Mystery of Thebes, bringing a new playable hero, seasonal cosmetics, gameplay improvements, and significant storage optimizations when the update launches on August 7.<\/p>\n

The update expands the roster with The Hood, while Summer Festival Vol. 2 arrives a few days later with new swimsuit-themed cosmetics and additional customization options.<\/p>\n

The Hood joins the roster as a Vanguard<\/h4>\n

The biggest addition in Season 9.5 is Parker Robbins, better known as The Hood, who joins the roster as a Vanguard.<\/p>\n

The Hood combines firearms and dark magic, allowing players to switch between his human and demonic forms during battle. His kit includes dual pistols for sustained frontline fire, mystical shields that protect teammates, dark magic orbs that transform into defensive barriers while weakening incoming enemy attacks, and an Ultimate Ability that transforms him into a powerful Gun Demon, firing shield-piercing rounds while granting bonus health to nearby allies.<\/p>\n

The Hood is voiced by Damian Priest (Luis Berrios), best known for his appearances on WWE SmackDown.<\/p>\n

Summer Festival Vol. 2 begins August 13<\/h4>\n

The seasonal celebration continues on August 13 with Summer Festival Vol. 2, introducing another wave of swimsuit-themed special costumes and cosmetics.<\/p>\n

The update also adds customizable movement and ability animations for Lady Loki, allowing players to toggle exclusive animations directly through the costume menu.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Krakoan Reels event returns for its second volume.<\/p>\n

Major storage reduction across all platforms<\/h4>\n

Season 9.5 also introduces a significant storage optimization update through a new texture compression system.<\/p>\n

According to NetEase Games<\/a>, the update reduces the game’s installation size without affecting visual quality. Expected storage savings are approximately 40GB on PC and around 15GB on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with the developer saying the improvements preserve image quality while reducing the overall storage footprint.<\/p>\n
