Samsung Electronics<\/a> has unveiled the new Samsung 990 SSD, expanding its consumer storage lineup with a PCIe 4.0 solid-state drive that delivers faster performance, improved power efficiency, and storage capacities of up to 2TB.<\/p>\n

Designed for gamers, content creators, and everyday PC users, the Samsung 990 SSD aims to provide a balanced upgrade for systems handling demanding workloads, large files, and modern games.<\/p>\n

Faster read and write speeds<\/h4>\n

Powered by PCIe 4.0 and Samsung’s latest NAND technology, the 2TB Samsung 990 SSD offers sequential read speeds of up to 7,250 MB\/s and sequential write speeds of up to 6,450 MB\/s. The 1TB model delivers sequential read speeds of up to 7,150 MB\/s while matching the 2TB variant’s write speed.<\/p>\n

For random performance, the 2TB model reaches up to 850K read IOPS and 1.2 million write IOPS, while the 1TB version delivers up to 700K read IOPS and 1.1 million write IOPS.<\/p>\n

Samsung says these improvements enable faster application launches, reduced game loading times, and smoother handling of heavy creative workloads.<\/p>\n

Built for gaming and content creation<\/h4>\n

The larger storage capacities are designed to accommodate today’s growing game libraries and high-resolution content.<\/p>\n

According to Samsung, the 2TB variant can store up to 30 AAA games, based on an average game size of 64GB, making it suitable for gamers and creators managing increasingly large files and applications.<\/p>\n

Improved power efficiency<\/h4>\n

Alongside its performance gains, Samsung says the 990 SSD delivers up to 38% better power efficiency than the previous 990 PRO, allowing users to maintain high performance while reducing power consumption.<\/p>\n

The SSD is also supported by Samsung Magician Software, which provides drive health monitoring, firmware updates, data migration tools, and performance optimization features.<\/p>\n

Availability in the Philippines<\/h4>\n

The Samsung 990 SSD launched globally on July 15, 2026 and is expected to arrive in the Philippines soon.<\/p>\n

Suggested retail prices are set at \u20b119,075 for the 1TB model and \u20b137,678 for the 2TB model.<\/p>\n
