Water is essential to healthcare facilities, but it is not always available. To address this challenge, SM Foundation, Inc. (SMFI)<\/strong> <\/em><\/a>has installed rainwater harvesting systems in two of the local health centers it recently refurbished \u2013 Brgy. Irawan Birthing Facility in Puerto Princesa, Palawan and San Fernando, Cebu Primary Health Care Facility.<\/p>\n

The rainwater harvesting systems are designed to collect and store rainwater for later use. This will help to ensure that the health centers have a reliable source of water, even during times of drought or water shortages.<\/p>\n

The systems are also environmentally friendly. By collecting rainwater, they help to reduce the reliance on groundwater and other freshwater resources. They also help to reduce stormwater runoff, which can pollute rivers and streams.<\/p>\n

The rainwater harvesting systems at the two health centers are expected to collect and store a combined total of 1,600 liters of water per day. This will be enough to meet the needs of the health centers for non-potable water, such as flushing toilets and watering plants.<\/p>\n

Dr. Alfredo P. Manugas VI, Municipal Health Officer and Health Department Head of San Fernando, Cebu Primary Health Care Facility, said that the rainwater harvesting system is essential for the health center.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe water supply in our municipality is not available 24\/7,\u201d he said. \u201cWe are now provided a source of water in times of emergency or any interruption of water supply.\u201d<\/p>\n

The SM Foundation Installs Rainwater Harvesting is really need daily and access to clean water is a right of every citizen and rain water harvesting in our country is necessary to address the issue and prevent shortage.<\/p>\n
