For the HUAWEI nova 16s Series, HUAWEI will open Philippine preorders on October 30, with the nova 16s priced at a promotional PHP 29,999 and the nova 16s Pro at PHP 39,999. The company says both models will be available for preorder with limited-time offers, including gift bundles and discounts.
The announcement positions the HUAWEI nova 16s Series around selfie photography, with front and rear True-to-Color camera systems, a 200MP main camera, and 5G connectivity. HUAWEI describes the lineup as the “King of AI Selfies,” a company marketing designation tied to its claimed improvements in color accuracy, facial detail and AI-assisted imaging.
Camera features and AI tools
The nova 16s Pro is the model detailed most extensively in the release. Its front camera system combines a 1.5MP multispectral sensor, pixel-level spectral perception algorithms and a 50MP Ultra Portrait Camera. HUAWEI says the multispectral system detects ambient color temperatures and improves color accuracy by 120% and spatial resolution by 100,000 times compared with unspecified prior conditions. The company’s footnote says the data comes from Huawei labs and compares the nova 16s Pro with the HUAWEI nova 14.
The 50MP front camera also supports what HUAWEI calls the industry’s first 0.8x–5x Selfie Zoom. The release says the system is designed for both wider group shots and closer portraits, while its 1/2.5-inch sensor is intended to capture more light in dim environments.
At the back, the nova 16s Pro has a four-camera setup with a dedicated Rear True-to-Color Camera. Its primary camera uses a 200MP RYYB sensor measuring 1/1.28 inch, with an F1.8 aperture. HUAWEI says this configuration is intended to improve low-light photography and preserve detail when users crop distant subjects.
The listed AI imaging tools include AI Composition for guidance on lighting, perspective and subject placement; AI Move for repositioning subjects; AI Remove for deleting photobombers and background clutter; AI De-Glare for reducing reflections; and AI Best Expression for selecting better facial expressions from multiple captures.
Battery, display and preorder offers
Across the lineup, HUAWEI lists a 7,000mAh battery, 100W HUAWEI SuperCharge Turbo, and an IceBridge Heat Dissipation Architecture. The release says the charging system can reach 40% in 15 minutes. It also lists a 6.84-inch display with an adaptive 1–120Hz refresh rate and up to 6,000 nits peak brightness.
The nova 16s Pro is listed with an aerospace-grade aluminum mid-frame, Kunlun Glass, a 7.1mm-thick body and a weight of 218g. HUAWEI says its glass offers 10-times higher drop resistance and five-times higher wear resistance than the previous generation. The Pro will come in Breathing Crystal, Isle Blue and Starry Black, while the nova 16s will be offered in Breathing Crystal, Starry Black and Sky White.
The HUAWEI nova 16s Series will also run EMUI 16 and support Seamless Cross-OS File Transfer with Apple devices, according to the release. HUAWEI says AppGallery provides access to apps including GCash, BDO, Shopee and Grab, along with Google services such as Gmail, YouTube, Drive, Meet and Docs.
A PHP 500 deposit on HUAWEI’s Online Store from October 23 at 10:00 a.m. to October 29 at 11:59 p.m. grants a stated PHP 6,000 discount. Preorders include a gift bundle worth up to PHP 14,997, while early buyers on Shopee, Lazada and TikTok Shop can claim a PHP 5,000 voucher. HUAWEI also announced a TikTok #TrueColorsSelfieChallenge beginning October 23, with prizes described as including nova 16s Pro units for the top 50 users by views.
