Xiaomi Empowers Malabon Public School With Smart Technology
Brigada Eskwela 2025: Giving Back Beyond the Paintbrush
When the Xiaomi Philippines team rolled up their sleeves for this year’s Brigada Eskwela, they weren’t just there to repaint walls or sweep floors. They came bearing smart solutions, redefining what public school support can look like in today’s digital-first world.
Held on June 10, 2025, the initiative—done in collaboration with long-time partner World Vision—saw Xiaomi return for a second year to support the Department of Education’s nationwide annual maintenance campaign. This time, they weren’t just touching up classrooms. They were rebuilding the future one smart device at a time.
From Manual Classrooms to Intelligent Learning
At the heart of the visit was the unveiling of a fully upgraded “Xiaomi-Powered Room”—a pilot classroom equipped with a suite of AIoT-powered tools designed to elevate the learning experience.
Among the donated tech were:
- Xiaomi Smart TVs for interactive lessons
- Smart fans and air purifiers for comfort and health
- Xiaomi smart cameras for security
- A smart projector to facilitate multimedia instruction
- A mesh Wi-Fi system to keep connectivity smooth and reliable
- And yes, even a smart vacuum to help keep the space tidy
With tools like these, the once-basic classroom now mirrors a modern collaborative environment—one that promotes engagement, wellness, and interactive learning.
Bayanihan in the Digital Age
While the cutting-edge donations made headlines, it was the morning of teamwork and community spirit that anchored the initiative.
Xiaomi employees, including Filipino staff and expats, joined World Vision volunteers and school faculty to take on the more traditional—but no less important—Brigada Eskwela tasks. That meant sweeping floors, hauling paint buckets, cleaning out closets, and freshening walls with bright new coats of paint.
The end goal? A school environment that’s clean, functional, and inspiring—one where students feel valued before the first bell even rings.
“It always needs a village to educate a child—the school alone cannot do that,” said school head Nenita Rivera. “We are so grateful to have partners like World Vision and Xiaomi. This kind of assistance will go a long way for both our teachers and our students.”
Bags Packed, Spirits Lifted
Beyond the bricks and bytes, Xiaomi’s commitment to the school included more tangible tools for the students themselves. Each learner received a Xiaomi-branded school bag filled with essential items to jumpstart their academic year.
It’s a small gesture, perhaps. But for many kids in public schools across the country, having their own school supplies is the difference between starting the year with confidence or hesitation.
A Vision That Goes Beyond Products
For Xiaomi, this is more than a marketing push. It’s corporate citizenship at work.
“May our donation in this year’s Brigada Eskwela serve both students and teachers in their immediate learning and teaching needs,” said Tomi Adrias, head of marketing at Xiaomi Philippines.
“At Xiaomi, we are committed to making our technology accessible to everyone, and we’re honored to play a part in helping shape better learning environments. Efforts like this are a step toward helping Filipino students dream bigger, reach further, and build brighter futures for themselves and their families.”
From hardware to hope, the company’s involvement reflects a deeper intent: to be a brand that builds lasting impact beyond product launches and sale days.
The Power of Partnership
For World Vision, this project reflects its core advocacy: bridging inequalities in education by tapping into the power of partnership.
“We face great challenges in education. We cannot do it alone,” said Alma Acub, program manager at World Vision. “That’s why partnerships like these are so important. Xiaomi is helping us bring innovation into schools and improve how students learn and engage.”
The collaboration merges World Vision’s grassroots insight with Xiaomi’s technological strength—an alliance that builds smarter, more inclusive classrooms in one of the country’s most underserved areas.
Bringing CSR to the Classroom
It’s one thing for a tech company to pledge digital transformation. It’s another to physically show up, lay down the groundwork—both literally and figuratively—and equip students and teachers with tools that actually change how education happens.
The “Xiaomi-Powered Room” in Malabon is more than a showcase piece. It represents how technology, when placed in the right hands, can democratize learning and opportunity.
For schools across the country where Wi-Fi can be patchy, projectors are outdated, or fans are broken, this room is a glimpse at what’s possible.
And with Xiaomi committing to Brigada Eskwela annually, this could just be the start of a nationwide model of smart education—one rooted in empathy, innovation, and purpose.
