TCL and TESDA Build Skills, Jobs, and Futures Together

Bridging the Skills Gap with Real-World Training

Let’s face it—HVAC technicians are in high demand, and the gap between classroom theory and field-ready skills is still wider than most air ducts. That’s where TESDA comes in, and now, TCL is stepping up too. TCL and TESDA Build Skills, Jobs, and Futures Together.

In a move that’s equal parts strategic and socially impactful, TCL Philippines has partnered with TESDA Regional Training Center–NCR to launch a specialized training hub for aspiring Filipino technicians. This isn’t just about donating a few air conditioners and calling it a day. It’s a full-blown enrollment-to-employment pathway designed to equip learners with the kind of hands-on experience that employers actually want.

And yes, it’s as practical as it sounds.

The TESDA-TCL Center: Where Theory Meets Torque

The centerpiece of this partnership is the newly built TESDA-TCL Center, a facility that’s part classroom, part workshop, and all business.

Inside, trainees will get their hands dirty (in a good way) with actual TCL air conditioning units—assembling, installing, servicing, and troubleshooting like pros. This isn’t just a simulation. It’s the kind of training that turns “I think I know how” into “I’ve done this before.”

The center features two main zones:

  • A fully functional hands-on training space
  • A modern lecture room equipped with TCL TVs and air conditioning units

It’s a setup that says, “We take your future seriously, but we won’t make you sweat through it.”

A Partnership Signed, Sealed, and Ready to Scale

TESDA RTC-NCR gave Certificate of Appreciation to TCL Philippines for its valuable partnership.

The collaboration was formalized during a ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement, attended by key officials from both sides.

From TCL:

  • Bert Cheung, Deputy Director of Air Conditioner and B2B Business
  • Shae Yu Xiaoling, Deputy Director of Marketing
  • Joseph Cernitchez, Brand Manager

From TESDA:

  • Cariza A. Dacuma, Assistant Regional Director
  • Maria Gracia P. Dela Rama, District Director
  • Eugene P. Agcaoili, Center Administrator

It was more than just a photo op. It was a commitment to long-term workforce development, with both parties expressing optimism that this partnership will last for years—and maybe even decades.

Training Today, Employment Tomorrow

One of the most exciting aspects of this initiative is its clear focus on employability. TCL isn’t just training students and walking away. They’re actively supporting career placement, creating a direct pipeline from classroom to job site.

This is what TESDA calls Training-to-Employment (T2E), and it’s a game-changer. It means students aren’t just learning—they’re launching.

And with TCL’s reputation as a global leader in consumer electronics (Triple Global Top 1 TV Brand, no less), that launchpad is looking pretty solid.

TCL’s Philosophy: Equip, Empower, Elevate

“We’re very happy to collaborate with TESDA,” said Bert Cheung, TCL Philippines Deputy Director of Air Conditioner and B2B Business. “Our aspiration is to foster greatness among these students and to be a source of inspiration for all.”

That’s not just corporate speak. TCL is backing it up with resources, expertise, and a genuine commitment to community development.

Joseph Cernitchez, TCL Brand Manager, added, “At TCL, we believe in giving back to the community that has helped us achieve our global standing. Through this initiative, we aim to empower more individuals to become highly skilled workers and excel in the industry.”

Translation: They’re not just selling air conditioners. They’re building careers.

More Than Just a Training Hub

TCL’s involvement goes beyond the TESDA-TCL Center. They’re also donating modern appliances—TVs, refrigerators, and air conditioning units—to enhance other TESDA facilities.

It’s a smart move. By upgrading the learning environment, TCL ensures that students are trained on current tech, not outdated relics.

And let’s be honest—if you’re going to learn how to fix an air conditioner, it helps if it’s not older than you.

A Certificate of Appreciation and a Tour of Tomorrow

During the MOA signing, TESDA RTC-NCR presented TCL Philippines with a Certificate of Appreciation. It was a small gesture, but a meaningful one.

Attendees also got a sneak peek at the training facility, touring the lecture rooms and hands-on areas. The layout was designed with functionality in mind, but it also reflects a clear vision: to create a space where learning leads to livelihood.

Why This Matters

This partnership isn’t just about air conditioning. It’s about economic mobility, workforce readiness, and giving Filipino learners a fighting chance in a competitive job market.

It’s about turning technical training into real-world opportunity.

And yes, it’s about making sure the next time your AC breaks down, there’s a skilled technician ready to fix it—fast, efficiently, and with pride.
