Taipei Game Show 2026 Draws Nearly 400,000 Visitors; 2027 Dates Announced

Taipei Game Show 2026 concluded its four-day run with nearly 400,000 attendees, marking one of the strongest showings in the event’s history.

The annual gaming expo recorded steady foot traffic throughout its run, with packed exhibit halls, fully occupied demo stations, and strong engagement from both players and industry professionals.

Business Area Draws Participants from 43 Countries

The Asia Pacific Game Summit, held during the first two days of the show, anchored TGS 2026’s industry-focused programming. The summit featured 26 sessions across two stages—the MAIN STAGE and AI STAGE—covering game development, indie production, operations and marketing, payment systems, generative AI, and emerging technologies.

Speakers from Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Canada, and China led discussions that combined technical insights with market perspectives. Sessions ran at full capacity, with open Q&A segments encouraging direct dialogue between speakers and attendees.

Outside the conference halls, informal networking played a major role. Conversations continued across meeting areas and exhibition floors, reinforcing the summit’s position as a key forum for collaboration and knowledge exchange in the region.

The expanded Business Area recorded strong participation, welcoming more than 2,100 industry professionals from 43 countries. Nearly 2,500 matchmaking meetings were conducted over two days. The Indie Game Area emerged as a focal point, drawing interest from international publishers and developers engaged in discussions around publishing, licensing, and cross-border collaboration.

Limited-Time Events and Major Titles Drive Crowd Engagement

The final day of TGS 2026 saw sustained crowds from morning until the evening starlight ticket period. Exhibitors responded with closing-day activities, competitions, and limited giveaways to cap off the event.

One of the major highlights was the Monster Hunter Wilds Taiwan Championship, organized by CAPCOM and Justdan. Six teams advanced from 140 qualifiers to compete in the finals, held in front of producer Ryozo Tsujimoto and director Yuya Tokuda. Defending champions Monster Hunter Forever retained their title following a closely contested match.

Bandai Namco Entertainment Taiwan drew attention with a large-scale recreation of the Erdtree from Elden Ring, which became a popular photo spot. Newly released CODE VEIN II was also featured, with director Hiroshi Yoshimura and producer Keita Iizuka appearing on stage for a live gameplay showcase.

Fan-focused experiences remained in high demand. Azur Lane’s ship dormitory activation filled its limited slots quickly, while Gravity Interactive’s Moonlight Cat boosted visibility for Ragnarok Online: World Journey. Merchandise for Snowbreak: Containment Zone, including a Taiwan-debut backpack, sold out rapidly and was widely seen across the venue.

Game Source Entertainment presented the first playable demo of Starsand Island worldwide. Its relaxed, cooperative gameplay attracted families, with parents and children engaging together throughout the day.

Nintendo Headlines Final Day as Shopping Activity Peaks

Nintendo led final-day programming at the TGS STAGE with gameplay sessions featuring several of its major titles. Content creators participated in live demonstrations of Kirby Air Riders, while others tested the updated Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition.

Across the exhibition floor, esports peripheral brands rolled out end-of-show discounts. The promotions triggered heavy purchasing activity, with many attendees leaving the venue carrying newly purchased gear and merchandise.

Indie Games and Board Games Maintain Strong Momentum

The Indie House, sponsored by Smilegate STOVE, remained busy until closing time. Developers collected extensive player feedback, with more than a thousand handwritten notes left on the feedback wall. Online discussions continued alongside on-site activity, extending engagement beyond the show floor.

The International Indie Game Pavilion also drew attention, giving attendees access to titles from overseas studios rarely showcased locally.

Meanwhile, the Board Game Area saw peak activity on the final day. Closing discounts boosted sales, while play areas stayed full with groups of friends and families. The area maintained a lively atmosphere marked by casual competition and shared play.

TGS 2027 Dates Confirmed

Following the close of TGS 2026, organizers confirmed that Taipei Game Show 2027 will take place from January 21 to 24. The event is set to return as the first major gaming exhibition of the year in Asia.

Organizers noted that while TGS has reached its 24th year, the event continues to evolve alongside industry shifts. Expanded exhibition spaces, deeper B2B engagement, and increased focus on emerging technologies are expected to shape future editions.

With consistent growth in both attendance and industry participation, Taipei Game Show is positioning itself for a larger role in the Asia-Pacific gaming calendar. Preparations for the 2027 edition are already underway.
