Solve for Tomorrow: Tech, Talent, Prizes, Real Impact

A Legacy of Innovation, A Future of Possibility

Samsung’s Solve for Tomorrow is back—and it’s not just another science fair. It’s a global movement, now celebrating 15 years of empowering young minds through STEM. In the Philippines, 2025 marks its third run, and this year’s edition is bigger, bolder, and more tech-driven than ever. Solve for Tomorrow: Tech, Talent, Prizes, Real Impact

With support from the Department of Education, Samsung is calling on Grades 8 to 10 students from government-managed Science High Schools nationwide to step up and solve real-world problems. The challenge? Use technology to make a difference. The reward? Over ₱2 million worth of Samsung devices and cash prizes. Not bad for a school project.

How to Join: Big Ideas Wanted, No Lab Coat Required

This year’s competition is open to teams of up to four students and one teacher-adviser. The mission: identify a local issue and propose a tech-powered solution. The themes are refreshingly relevant:

  • Environmental Sustainability through Technology – Think recycling, upcycling, and turning waste into wonder.
  • Social Change through Tech and Sport – Use sport and tech to drive inclusion, education, and entrepreneurship.
  • Solving Community Problems with AI – Apply artificial intelligence to tackle everyday challenges in your barangay.

Proposals must be submitted as a PDF (max 40MB), either as a 2,500-word document or a 5-slide PowerPoint. Deadline: October 26, 2025, at 11:59 PM. So yes, procrastinators beware.

Entries will be judged on innovation, community relevance, feasibility, STEM integration, sustainability, and clarity. In short: don’t just dream big—make it doable.

The Road to Victory: Mentorship, Pitching, and Big Prizes

Once the entries are in, Samsung will shortlist the top 10 teams by November 11. These finalists will receive mentorship from Samsung reps to refine their ideas. It’s like Shark Tank, but with less yelling and more science.

Final presentations happen on December 3, and the winners will be announced on December 9. Expect applause, maybe a few tears, and definitely a lot of selfies with oversized checks.

Prize Breakdown: More Than Just Bragging Rights

Samsung isn’t skimping on the rewards. Here’s what’s up for grabs:

  • Grand Prize
    • ₱500,000 worth of Samsung devices for the school
    • ₱250,000 worth of devices for the team and adviser
    • ₱100,000 in cash for the students
    • ₱30,000 in cash for the teacher
  • Second Prize
    • ₱300,000 worth of devices for the school
    • ₱250,000 worth of devices for the team and adviser
    • ₱70,000 in cash for the students
    • ₱25,000 in cash for the teacher

    • ₱250,000 worth of devices for the team and adviser
    • ₱50,000 in cash for the students

  • Top 10 Finalists (non-winners)

  • ₱5,000 in cash for the teacher

That’s a serious investment in the future—and a serious incentive to start brainstorming.

Why Solve for Tomorrow Matters More Than Ever

Since its launch in 2010, Solve for Tomorrow has evolved from a simple essay contest into a full-blown innovation platform. It’s not just about winning—it’s about learning how to think critically, design responsibly, and innovate with empathy.

This year’s spotlight on AI reflects Samsung’s commitment to future-forward thinking. With AI now embedded in everything from smartphones to smart homes, students are being challenged to use it not just for convenience—but for community impact.

And let’s be real: Gen Z already talks to voice assistants more than they talk to their parents. Why not channel that tech fluency into something transformative?

STEM Meets Social Impact: The Real Power Combo

The themes this year aren’t just buzzwords—they’re blueprints for change. Environmental sustainability isn’t just about saving trees; it’s about rethinking how we consume and create. Social change through sport and tech? That’s about building bridges, not just scoring goals.

And AI? It’s the wildcard. From traffic management to mental health support, AI has the potential to solve problems we didn’t even know we had. Samsung wants students to tap into that power—not just to impress judges, but to improve lives.

The Bigger Picture: Building Next-Gen Heroes

Samsung’s mission goes beyond gadgets. Solve for Tomorrow is about democratizing access to technology and nurturing the next generation of Filipino innovators. It’s about turning students into problem-solvers, dreamers into doers, and ideas into impact.

In a country where talent often outpaces opportunity, programs like this matter. They give students the tools, the platform, and the confidence to believe that their ideas can shape the future.

So if you’re a student with a big idea—or a teacher who sees potential in your class—this is your moment. Shake off the doubt, fire up the laptop, and start solving.
