Esports does not always begin on big stages or inside packed arenas. Sometimes, it starts on a barangay court—surrounded by neighbors, friends, and the familiar energy of the community.
Through the OPPO x Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Barangay Caravan, OPPO Philippines and MLBB brought competitive gaming directly to local communities in Bulacan and Pampanga, transforming everyday barangay spaces into active esports hubs. The multi-leg tour blended competition, community engagement, and hands-on technology experiences, reinforcing how mobile esports continues to thrive at the grassroots level.
Turning Courts into Esports Arenas
The caravan featured 5v5 MLBB tournaments across multiple barangays, drawing young gamers, local teams, and long-time MLBB fans into action-packed match days. By staging tournaments in familiar neighborhood settings, OPPO and MLBB lowered the barrier to entry for competitive play, allowing aspiring players to experience organized esports without leaving their communities.
OPPO co-presented select tournament legs and led the official 5v5 competitions in Barangay Bagong Barrio and Barangay Barrio in Pandi, Bulacan, as well as Barangay Cuayan and Barangay Sto. Domingo in Angeles, Pampanga. Winning teams were rewarded with OPPO A3x smartphones, while each barangay’s Most Valuable Player received an OPPO A6 Pro—underscoring OPPO’s focus on rewarding performance and participation at the local level.
In other stops, including Barangay Cacarong Bata in Pandi, Bulacan, and Barangay Panginay Cuayan and Barangay Cuayan in Angeles, Pampanga, OPPO participated as a major sponsor, supporting the overall tournament atmosphere and community activities on site.
Engaging the Next Generation
The Barangay Caravan went beyond matches alone. OPPO set up interactive booth activations, hands-on smartphone demos, and giveaways, giving attendees the chance to experience OPPO devices up close while enjoying the tournament atmosphere.
One of the crowd highlights was the OPPO Legends Henyo segment, where participants tested their MLBB knowledge for a chance to win prizes. The activity added a lighter, inclusive layer to the event, ensuring that even non-competitors could take part in the excitement.
