HUAWEI Pura 80 Series Redefines Mobile Photography Standards

A Legacy Reimagined: From P Series to Pura

HUAWEI’s P Series has always been the brand’s creative playground. Since 2012, it’s been the launchpad for mobile imaging breakthroughs—from the P9’s dual-lens setup to the P60’s Ultra Lighting Macro Telephoto Camera. But in 2024, the series got a name change and a new attitude. Enter the HUAWEI Pura Series, a fusion of fashion-forward design and imaging tech that doesn’t just keep up—it leads. HUAWEI Pura 80 Series is here.

The Pura 70 Series introduced the Forward Symbol Design and Ultra Speed Snapshot. Now, the Pura 80 Series takes that baton and sprints into uncharted territory. It’s not just a phone. It’s a statement piece with a camera system that could make DSLR owners sweat.

Dual Telephoto, Singular Vision

The HUAWEI Pura 80 Ultra debuts the industry’s first Switchable Dual Telephoto Camera—a mouthful, yes, but also a game-changer. It combines a 3.7x mid-telephoto lens and a 9.4x ultra-telephoto lens into one compact unit, powered by a 1/1.28-inch Ultra Large Sensor.

Translation: cinematic portraits, dramatic close-ups, and zoom shots that don’t look like watercolor paintings.

The lens system uses micron-level motor control to switch focal lengths with surgical precision. Inside? Over 140 components working in harmony. The result? A 129% increase in light path compared to traditional telephoto modules. That’s not just engineering—it’s choreography.

Macro Mastery with the Pura 80 Pro

If the Ultra is the showstopper, the Pura 80 Pro is the quiet genius. Its Ultra Lighting Macro Telephoto Camera offers a Super Close Focus of 5cm, letting you capture textures and details that most phones wouldn’t even notice.

The F2.1 aperture boosts light intake by 40%, making low-light macro shots look like they were taken in a studio. Whether it’s the shimmer of city lights or the grain of a seashell, the Pro delivers clarity that borders on obsessive.

Light, Shadow, and the 1-Inch Revolution

The Pura 80 Ultra doesn’t stop at telephoto tricks. It packs a 1-inch Ultra Lighting HDR Camera with a full-well electron capacity of 400,000 e⁻ per pixel—seven times greater than its predecessor.

This means it can freeze fast motion and handle extreme lighting transitions without breaking a sweat. Thanks to TCG-HDR technology, it processes three high-capacity signals simultaneously, achieving a dynamic range of 16EV—15x higher than before.

Pair that with the AI Cinematic Engine, and you get video that feels like it was color-graded by a film school graduate. Highlights are recovered. Shadows retain depth. And the footage? It mirrors what your eyes actually see.

Night Owls Rejoice

The Pura 80 Pro also features a 1-inch Ultra Lighting Camera paired with an Ultra Chroma Camera. This combo restores night scene colors with eerie accuracy. No more neon signs that look like smudged crayons. No more cityscapes that resemble oil paintings. Just crisp, vibrant night photography that respects the mood and the moment.

Design That Dares to Shine

Let’s talk aesthetics. The Pura 80 Ultra comes in Prestige Gold and Golden Black, with a golden ring encircling the camera—a nod to luxury watches and high-end jewelry. It’s bold, elegant, and unmistakably HUAWEI.

The Pura 80 Pro opts for Glazed Red, Glazed White, and Glazed Black, inspired by monochrome glaze textures. It’s minimalist, sculpted, and quietly confident.

Both phones are built to last. The Ultra uses 2nd Gen Crystal Armor Kunlun Glass, offering 16x scratch resistance and 25x drop resistance. The Pro features 2nd Gen Kunlun Glass with 20x drop resistance. Add IP68/IP69 water and dust resistance, and you’ve got devices that can survive both fashion week and a tropical downpour.

Philippine Preview and Launch

The HUAWEI Pura 80 Series officially lands in the Philippines on August 7, 2025. But if you’re impatient (and who isn’t?), you can catch an Exclusive Preview every weekend from July 26 to August 10 at 40 select HUAWEI Experience Stores.

It’s your chance to test the cameras, feel the build, and maybe even zoom in on your own pores. Just don’t blame the phone if the detail is too honest.
