Otaku Pop Fes to Bring Japanese Anime, Pop Culture Experience to the Philippines

Otaku Pop Fes is set to make its Philippine debut on April 25 to 26, at Okada Manila, bringing together anime, music, cosplay, and live entertainment in a two-day celebration of Japanese pop culture.

The event was officially announced during a press conference at Okada Manila’s Glass Ballroom, where organizers outlined plans to deliver a licensed and curated Japanese pop culture experience for Filipino fans.

A Multi-Day Celebration of Anime and Music

Otaku Pop Fes will span two major venues within Okada Manila. The Ballroom will house anime exhibition booths and stage programs. Meanwhile, Cove Manila will host cosplay activities, Japanese pop culture showcases, and live evening concerts.

Organizers said the venue setup allows fans to move between exhibitions, performances, and community activities across both days.

Bringing Authentic Japanese Pop Culture to Fans

During the press conference, Otaku Pop Fes representative Osaki Akinori shared the vision behind the event.

“Otaku Pop Fes was created to bring authentic Japanese pop culture experiences closer to fans in the Philippines,” Osaki said. “We want to create a space where people can enjoy anime, music, and live performances in a way that feels genuine and respectful to the culture.”

The festival will feature licensed Japanese intellectual properties, themed booths, interactive experiences, and stage programs aimed at both long-time fans and newcomers.

Live Performances and Special Guests

Music is positioned as a major pillar of the event. A promotional video shown during the press conference teased upcoming performances, including appearances connected to UNIS. Japanese artists Hiroshi Kitadani and Eir Roi will also make an appearance.

Organizers confirmed that Otaku Pop Fes will feature a mix of Japanese artists, local performers, and special guests. Fans can expect additional lineup details in the coming weeks.

Support from Partners and Stakeholders

Okada Manila, the official venue partner, reaffirmed its support for the event during the launch.

Kenji Sugiyama, Managing Director for Corporate Management and Administration of Okada Manila, said the integrated resort is well-positioned to host a festival centered on Japanese pop culture.

“Okada Manila is known for its fusion of Japanese excellence and Filipino hospitality, making it an ideal venue for an event like Otaku Pop Fes,” Sugiyama said.

The event also brings in local creators and community figures, including Myrtle Sarrosa, alongside Prince, Awie, Een, and Charess, all active within the anime and cosplay scene. Their involvement highlights the festival’s aim to bridge Japanese pop culture with the Philippine fandom community.
