Muang Thai a refreshing take on Thai Food

As an avid fan of Thai food after spending 3 wonderful years in the country, I was really delighted when I was invited to the relaunching of Muang Thai a long time stape of Thai food in Quezon City. I was really excited when the actual day came along.

Managing Director Regina Romero shares about the journey to the all-new Muang Thai, “We traveled to Bangkok to really immerse ourselves in the culture and the cuisine, as we saw the opportunity to introduce a new kind of Thai to patrons in the industry. We hope that the new Muang Thai will be loved by both old and new patrons.”

The revamped menu features classic Thai favorites and new dishes that have been meticulously developed by a young and very talented team. Muang Thai visitors will definitely be excited to try out each dish. Aspiring Chef Jolo Morales was heavily involved in the development process.

Old Muang Thai favorites such as Spring Rolls, Som Tum, Tom Yum Goong, and Pad Thai can be enjoyed alongside new dishes like Satay Gai (Chicken Satay), Hor Mok (Steamed Scallop Cake), Mu Krob (Crispy Pork Belly), Yum Som O (Pomelo Salad), and Frozen Thai Milk Tea.

The Muang Thai kitchen is led by Head Chef Louisie Guevarra. She was trained at the JW Marriott Hotel in Miami, Florida, and was Chef de Partie at Lombardi’s Authentic Italian back in 2014. She was also the Assistant Head Chef at Punta Bar and Restaurant in 2015.

The dishes that we sample are a staple of Thai cuisine straight from the streets of Bangkok. The food was delectably served and looked amazing. The taste was also good albeit tuned to the Filipino palate. I for one loved the flavor but i lacked the spicy kick that I grew accustomed to when eating Thai food. I just prefer it to be a spicer, my tolerance to spicy food went thru the roof when i lived in Bangkok for 3 years.

But if you are like the normal Filipino who loves to eat Thai food with just a little bit of heat then I highly recommend you visit Muang Thai. I for one will be try to visit them again if I am free and in the Area.

The new Muang Thai Restaurant officially re-opened last September 26, 2018. You may visit them at 138 Malakas Street, Diliman, Quezon City, Monday-Sunday, 11AM-10PM. For reservations, call 426-4123 or +639958119627. Follow them on social media on Instagram (@MuangThaiPH) and on Facebook (Muang Thai PH)
